I say stick with Vertigo. Even though I gotta give props to Marvel for wanting to stir things up lately (though frankly, you'd fit in with either) Vertigo obviously wants you on board, especially with wanting to publish your own stuff. And many staple Vertigo series like Hellblazer could use more art like your's.
first time i heard about "Joe the Barbarian", so i checked it out, and it seems pretty awesome been a while since i read a comics that was written after the 80s
Haha I guess I agree with the majority of people here, I think you know your work best and you made the right choice. Though I disagree that American comics don't tolerate unique styles; I dunno bout DC, but I think you'll thrive in either Marvel or Vertigo.
Go with the flow man, it may earn your bread but unless you bridge out and sample the many hors d'oeuvre of life and art then what's the point? I'm really loving your work with Vertigo though, I hope you're happy there. I was very happy to find Joe the Barbarian 4, 5, and 6 waiting for me at my local comic book store today. I had to wait over a month for them but it was very worth it!

If the BS is at a minimum where you're at and the pay is satisfying, stay put and keep progressing.
