This is a Gruau-style sample I just finished for Diane von Furstenberg/DC Comics. I don't quite understand what it's being used for, but hopefully I'll get the 9-page gig.
It's been a while since I've colored these sorts of washes and the job was rushed (start to finish in 5 hours) but it turned out alright. I wish Paltrow's face was less overworked. It's hard hitting that perfect spot between rendered and suggested detail. But I'm pretty happy with the first two. I have a feeling and a comic book colorist is NEVER going to be able to match this look by dropping the grays and whatnot. |
